Quick Sketch Warm up

Have you ever noticed that your initial sketch of the day tends to be a bit off? In drawing, painting, or any form of art, a proper warm-up is essential for achieving the best results and making progress. I did use to believe that warming up was only necessary for athletes. If you're planning to run a 5k or work on your splits, warming up those muscles is crucial. Otherwise, it can lead to poor performance and injuries. Not warming up before starting a drawing session may not be as severe, but it can still result in a lot of frustration and wasted time and paper, especially if you haven't sketched in a while.

Duration of Warm-Up

In brief, it varies. Some artists perform a few rapid exercises for a few seconds, while others dedicate up to 30 minutes to practice before moving on to their main work.

Artists who sketch or paint daily often require less time to get started. This is because their brains are accustomed to transitioning between modes, as mentioned earlier, so primarily their muscles need some attention.
